Mr Peyman Bakhshayesh

MD, PhD, MBAWriter, poet and civic activist

Born in Abadan and based in Leeds, Peyman Bakhshayesh brings lived experience, history and civic responsibility into his writing. His books, essays and Persian poetry explore Iran’s democratic future, national reconciliation and institution-building. From Political Activism in the Lion and Sun Movement to the poetic dialogues of Peyman and Manouchehr, his work connects personal memory with practical questions of citizenship, leadership and rebuilding a country.

A constitutional monarchist and supporter of Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi’s leadership during a democratic transition, he advocates a prosperous, secular Iran founded on equal citizenship, pluralism and the rule of law, with its constitutional future decided freely by its people.

Alongside his writing and civic activism, he is a consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Leeds.
